In 1979 the location of Haver's Conoco Service was moved to 2410 S. 120th Street. This was a move to a
growing section of town. At this location Lee started a good size convenient store to go along with the gasoline sales. While
the automotive service was also one of the best in the area. With the move the customer base for gas and service quickly grew.
Along with the added convenient store, at this location Lee offered truck and trailer rentals. First with Jartran, then U-Haul
and finally Ryder. This location also saw Lee's oldest son Jim come into the business after completing high school in 1980.
All of Lee's 5 children worked at either both or one of the locations. With the new EPA regulations on gasoline storage and
sales in the late 1980's and the need to expand the automotive repair facility, Lee made a very difficult decision and decided
to suspend selling gas and move to an automotive repair only facility.
In the fall of 1992 Haver's Service Center was born at 2343 S. 156th Circle. Lee's first goal was
to not break ties that he had with Conoco for 35 years, so Haver's still uses Conoco oil and lubricants today. This new location
became an auto repair technicians dream, three hoists, room to work on seven cars at a time and most of all, AIR CONDITIONING
in the shop. With the move the customer base has grown by leaps and bounds in this growing part of Omaha. This location has
seen Lee's youngest son Joel come into the business after graduation in 1997 with a bachelors degree in Mechanized Systems
Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
In the fall of 2000 Haver's Service Center doubled its size at same location of 2343 S. 156th Circle.
The expansion has allowed for a larger customer waiting area, total of 5 hoists, new shopoffice, wash bay to wash customers
cars, additional storage, room to work on many more cars, and much more. During this expansion the entire shop was wired for
a computer network which supports 10 computers including a computer in the customer waiting area for complimentary customer
Internet access. This expansion was fueled by the fact that another one of Lee's sons, Jeff, came back into the family business.
Jeff graduated in 1989 with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Jeff interned
with General Motors for two summers while in college and worked for Maytag in Newton, IA for 11 years as a Manufacturing Engineer.
In 2003 Haver's Service Center incorporated under the name Haver Bros., Inc. Jim, Jeff, & Joel now
run the business with a lot of daily support from Lee. Also in 2003 Haver's Service Center added Haver's Auto Sales. Haver's
Auto Sales was formed to assist customers in locating and purchasing a pre-owned vehicle.
In March 2004 Haver's Service Center opened a second full service automotive repair facility in Elkhorn
at 20132 Roberts Street. This is the first time in company history that Haver's Service Center consisted of two locations.
This expansion has allowed for a third generation Haver to enter the business full time. Zach is Lee's grandson and Jim's
only son. Zach graduated in 2003 from Wyotech in Laramie, Wyoming with an associates degree in Automotive Technology
and Management. Zach and Jim run the daily operation at the second location in Elkhorn with the support of all the other Havers.
In November 2006 Haver's Service Center relocated the Elkhorn location to 20515 Nicholas Circle #1.
A new larger location was needed with additional equipment to continue to service the customers. Haver's simply
grew out of the Roberts street location. The new location is in a brand new building. The new facility has
a great customer waiting area, improved parking, larger shop area with additional automotive service equipment with an improved
layout to efficiently service the customer vehicles.
It is important to mention the Haver that has helped grow this business and support it from
the early beginning. That Haver is Eloise Haver. Eloise has two additional names that she goes by, "Dugan" and "Eloyce". In
September of 1958 Lee and Dugan were married. They then had five children together from 1959 to 1973. The oldest and only
daughter is Karen who is followed by four boys, Jim, Jeff, John, and Joel. Dugan has been a big part of Haver's Service
Center. Dugan retired in May 2004 and continues to stay busy with church and many other activities.
This story is sure to continue as young Havers continue to grow up.
